Planning Ahead to Stay Ahead on Your Weight Loss Goals

Whether it is work or family related most of our lives can get hectic at times. When we experience these crazy times we can fall off track with our weight loss goals. Most of the time it is because we have a lack of planning ahead to make sure we have everything in order to stay on track. To make sure you are able to stay focused even when life is unpredictable follow these helpful hints.

  • Make sure you are planning out your meals and snacks to incorporate protein. Busy schedule or not you need to make sure you eat 3 meals and 2-3 snacks daily to help your metabolism to burn efficiently. All of those meals and snacks need to include protein to provide you with 60-80 grams of protein daily. It’s good to keep protein bars with you to make sure you are never without a quick source of protein.  Always have protein shakes cold in the refrigerator so you can grab one on the go.
  • Portion out your meals and snacks in advance. Sometimes when you get busy you might wait too long to eat and eat too much, too fast. If that happens you could get sick. It’s a good idea to have some 4oz containers that you can have prepared ahead of time to make sure you have the proper portion for your stomach and you can have it ready to eat at a moment’s notice.
  • Always have water available for yourself. Staying hydrated is so important, especially after surgery when you can only consume about 6oz of fluid at one time. Plan ahead to have some bottled water that you can grab on the go or have your own refillable cup that you can take with you to sip on throughout the day.
  • Incorporate exercise to your daily plan. During chaotic episodes in our lives exercise can be an amazing stress reliever. Plan ahead and have a great set routine, so that no matter what happens you still do your exercise routine. If exercise is a part of your routine, like showering or brushing your teeth, you will make time for it no matter what life throws your way. If your plan ahead for exercise your body and mind will thank you later when you have accomplished your weight loss goal.
