On Saturday, October 5, 2013, Saint Francis Center for Surgical Weight Loss celebrated its 10th anniversary with a luncheon and fashion show in the Café, fea- turing and attended by over 150 former patients. Local television news morning and noon anchor woman, Kym Clark, emceed the celebration and the fashions were provided by Dillard’s.

In her opening remarks, Leslie Albers, Center Program Manager, said, “This celebration marks an amazing milestone for the Center for Surgical Weight Loss. Back in 2003…with a handful of patients, and together with our first dietitian, we embarked on this tremendous journey. I don’t think that [we] ever imagined that we would be where we are today. We now have a multidisciplinary team of 11 people to care for the hundreds of people that come through our program each year. That first year [we] performed 45 surgeries, and this year over 700 people will receive a chance to improve their health and the quality of their life.”

During the Celebration, Center Surgeons, Dr. Robert Wegner spoke and thanked staff and patients for an incredible 10 years highlighting how rewarding what they do is and how much the patients inspire them.

Post op patients, Carlos Matthews and Stephanie Baker, also gave inspirational speeches at the Celebration and Volunteer Betty Isbell was recognized for her 10 years of service to the Center.

Over the past decade, the surgeons and staff at the Center for Surgical Weight Loss have been changing lives. Since its inception, the Center has performed more than 5,800 surgeries. We have helped our patients toward a combined weight loss exceeding 252,000 pounds!
